Blacksmithing

Mark Williams of Williams Iron will be coming to do blacksmithing demos during this years Farm Day. He is a great teacher and loves to explain the process. He does many demos including working the forge at Snow Hill's Furnace Town. Mark Williams started blacksmithing because he inherited some tools from his wife's great-grandfather, who was a blacksmith. He got hooked! First, it was therapy for frustrations in research and teaching [Mark earned a PhD in physics.] . Then it became the joy of creation/design and the challenge of causing the design to come to life. Mark demonstrates at various fairs and festivals on Delmarva. He works out of a shop behind his house in Snow Hill, MD. His ironwork runs from any kind of hook, to puzzles, house hardware, cooking utensils and much more! Make sure you stop by his booth!

Meet our shearer

Meet Donald King. He lives in Church Hill, Maryland where he and his family run a flock of 15 Hampshire/Suffolk wether type ewes for club lamb production. They show the lambs at county fairs on the Eastern Shore as well as at the Maryland State Fair.
Donlad has always sheared his own ewes since 2000 and in 2008 started shearing other flocks. In the spring of 2010 he decided to attend the Maryland/Delaware sheep shearing school, which greatly increased his skills and proficiency.

He loves to shear and enjoys the challenges that come with each sheep.
